During this time of social isolation, are you looking for meaningful ways to volunteer remotely? Do you want to sharpen your writing skills and increase your writing portfolio? The Starfish Canada is looking for budding writers to share and tell their creative articles and stories for our national audience of environmental change-makers.
Our award-winning editorial program pairs volunteer writers and editors together to create content for our online journal. Writers are supported by editors every step of the way - from formulating your idea for an article to shaping and refining your content for an online audience. We’re on the lookout for writers who can provide thought-provoking stories. while helping to increase your writing portfolio.
Time commitment: About 3 hours per month (Volunteer commitments renew every six months)
All correspondence is conducted online and we will provide a writing and editing manual and online training to assist in the creative process.

Key Position Responsibilities
Our deliverables are an article on a timeline determined by the writer and editor. At a minimum, writers should produce articles on a monthly basis.
Qualifications and Requirements
We welcome applications from people with various levels of skills, attributes, and experiences.
Our expectation is that:
- You feel comfortable to lead work together, to make mistakes, and to learn from them.
- We want you to learn as a part of your experience here (and we are also excited to learn from you). We hope that you feel comfortable asking lots of questions, no matter how small.
- You don’t expect you to have all of the answers. We prefer team members that are honest about what they understand. We appreciate team members that are okay to give and receive feedback and are willing to have fun with a wonderful team.
